Like a thief in the night, they sneaked in while everyone were preoccupied. Just like his decades-rule, he snatched democracy from this free country. He ruled with all his might, stepping on anyone and everyone who’ll stand on his way. Just like a thief in the night, he stole lives of people fighting for freedom from the inhumane Martial Law. Just like all his life, he was like a thief in the night, sneaking into the LNMB compound resting peacefully (hopefully NOT!) while victims of his rule have still not attained justice. Just like a thief in the night, he was, he is still, and will forever be a THIEF and not a hero!
It was my first time to join a rally. Yes, I’ve stayed 5 years in UP and I wasn’t able to take part in any of the rallies in campus. We stood for more than 3 hours but you can still see smiles in our faces while chanting and encouraging motorists to honk their horns. This was not the typical rallies I saw on TV. People from all walks of life were there. Some coming from schools, us coming from work. Surprisingly, most were millennials. There was a guy who was giving out biscuits and two ladies who dropped off bottles of mineral water. Fulfilling indeed.
I just hope this cause will not go to waste. This may be a bit too late since the thief surprised everyone with this burial. But I hope this will not silence our burning desire to impart to the young generation the horrible things that happened during the Marcos regime. He was never a hero and HE WILL NEVER BE!!!
This pains me to say but this is on you my President. THIS IS ON YOU!!!
